“One man was there who had been sick for 38 years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew he had already been there a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to get well? ” “Sir,” the sick man answered, “I don’t have a man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, someone goes down ahead of me.” “Get up,” Jesus told him, “pick up your mat and walk! ” Instantly the man got well, picked up his mat, and started to walk. Now that day was the Sabbath,”, John 5:5-9 HCSB

• I believe most humans want ourselves, our loved ones, and other people to be well in every area of life. I also believe that many of us humans don’t feel well in many areas of our lives, don’t see our loved ones being well, and don’t see other people’s lives being well. I also believe that many of us humans see barriers in the way of being well that seem impossible to get passed.
• A diagram:

State: Unwell + Desire to Get Well | Seemingly Impossible Barriers | State: Well

• That was the case with this sick man:

State: Sick for 38 Years + Desire to Get Well | Couldn’t Get in to the Pool While it was Stirred | State: Well

• Jesus is not bound to the barriers to our wellness or to our solutions to those barriers. In other words, in the above case, Jesus could have hung out with this man and helped him in to the pool when the pool was stirred but Jesus wasn’t bound to this particular solution. He just bypassed the barrier completely by healing the man out of thin air! He can do the same in all of our lives.
