“Just before the Passover feast, Jesus knew that his time had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, that he should betray Jesus.”, John 13:1-2 NET

• That is a scary passage. The devil can put things into people’s hearts. I believe he could even do this to the apostles after they were filled with the Holy Spirit:

“But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he had clearly done wrong. Until certain people came from James, he had been eating with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he stopped doing this and separated himself because he was afraid of those who were pro-circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also joined with him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray with them by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not behaving consistently with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “If you, although you are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to force the Gentiles to live like Jews?””, Galatians 2:11-14 NET

• Wasn’t it probably the devil who put these things in Peter’s and the rest of the Jews’ heart?
• Why the people who came with James? Was it just because James was reaching out to the Jews? Why didn’t James address this issue at first?

“Because Jesus knew that the Father had handed all things over to him, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, he got up from the meal, removed his outer clothes, took a towel and tied it around himself.”, John 13:3-4 NET

• Just as Jesus removed his outer clothes, He was about to remove his human body on the cross.
