“Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me, believe because of the miraculous deeds themselves. I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing, and will perform greater deeds than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”, John 14:11-14 NET

• Sometimes I think that perhaps we are missing a part of something in our Christianity. In the above passage, Jesus says that the person who believes in Him will perform the miraculous deeds that He was doing and would perform greater deeds than He did! He doesn’t say that this only for the apostles. He says “the person who believes in me”. I know that we can take that to mean that we can convert more people than Jesus did since Jesus converted many more people after his death on the cross than before but that’s not exactly what Jesus said. He said, “will perform greater deeds than these” (at least that is how the NET bible translates this verse).

“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”, John 14:11-14 NASB

• As a side, I find myself being bombarded with things I am anxious about while reading my Bible and that makes it hard to focus. One thing that I have been doing that helps is to recite Proverbs 3:5 whenever these anxieties try make me want to think about them instead of entertaining them.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Most anxieties come form my incorrect understanding about something so trusting God is much easier.
